Elevation at your current location

This page looks up neighborhood elevation from nearby terrain data. If your device also provides GPS altitude, it is shown in a separate card for comparison.

What can you check?

You can check the nearby place name, elevation in meters and feet, available GPS altitude, and altitude accuracy. Values can differ depending on terrain data and device sensor conditions.

What you can check

Map-based elevation

Uses nearby terrain elevation data and shows the result in meters and feet.

Browser GPS altitude

Some mobile devices provide GPS altitude and accuracy. The value may be unavailable depending on browser and device support.

Elevation reference location

Shows a nearby place name so you can verify which surrounding area the elevation result is based on.

Current location altitude FAQ

What is my elevation right now above sea level?

Select “Check current altitude” to see your map-based elevation above sea level in meters and feet. If your device supports it, browser GPS altitude is shown too.

Can I check elevation by address or place name?

This page checks elevation from your browser's current location and shows a nearby place name as the reference. Entering a different address manually is not currently supported.

How do I check my current altitude?

Select “Check current altitude” and allow location access. You can then compare neighborhood elevation with browser GPS altitude when your device provides it.

Why can GPS altitude and map-based elevation differ?

GPS altitude depends on device sensors and signal quality, while map-based elevation comes from a terrain model grid. The difference can be larger indoors or in steep terrain.

Is my location stored?

Location information is used only while processing the altitude lookup. Location permission is managed by your browser, and the page only displays the result.
